This 10-day itinerary offers a unique running safari experience in Kenya, starting with an easy run to Nairobi’s Karura forest: Hells Gate National park and Iten ‘Home of Champions” ending with a game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The trip includes runs in various distances, scenic views, and wildlife encounters, making it an unforgettable adventure for running enthusiasts.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to the Trademark Hotel Village Market for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Experience the best running area in Narobi at Karura: runners may opt for different distances between 5k and 15K or chose to walk instead of running: breakfast at the hotel before leaving for David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Centre: lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden: return to the hotel for restful afternoon. Dinner at the Thyme Restaurant and overnight at the Trademark Hotel Village Market.

Day 3: Depart for Aberdares National Park after breakfast and travel through the Central highlands and check into Aberdare Country Club on arrival for lunch before the transfer to the Ark for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Depart for Hells Gate National Park for a memorable running experience:
this is a unique park popular with hikers and cyclists, and one of only two Kenyan national parks where this is allowed ̈ the run is vehicle supported for participants who opts to do shorter distances: retreat back to Lake Naivasha Sawela Lodge for lunch followed by a boat ride to Crescent Island for a game walk in the company of giraffes, antelops and zebras: return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Depart for Iten the running Mecca commonly referred to as the Home of Champions: check into Kerio View Lodge overlooking the fascinating Kerio valley In time for late lunch. Evening leisure run at the famous Kamariny Grounds where top athletes go for speed sessions followed by dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Leave the lodge after breakfast and drive down the escarpment before being dropped at the junction that leads to Torok Falls: run/hike through the farms that dons the undulating escarpment landscape and cross the streams that originate from Torok Falls.  Stop at the falls for photos and walk or run back to a sport next to the main road for picnic and later transfer back to the lodge for a restful afternoon: dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Leave Item after an early morning run through the routes used tens of by elite runners preparing for major races across the globe: breakfast at the lodge before departure for Lake Nakuru National Park home to a sizeable population of lions, rhinos; various antelope types, zebras etc besides the 400 species of birds that reside there: .lunch at Lion Hill Lodge after arrival followed by a late afternoon game drive.

Day 8: Leave Lake Nakuru after breakfast for Masai Mara traveling through the floor of the Great Rift Valley and Masai capital town of Narok to arrive at Mara Sarova Tented Camp in time lunch: late afternoon game drive till dusk. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp.

Day 9: Full day game drive in the captivating Masai Mara National Reserve tracking diverse wildlife species which roam the breathtaking landscape capturing helping create lasting memories on the visitor’s camera. This is home to the great wildebeest migration that takes place July and October. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp.

Day 10: Fly out to Nairobi after breakfast and spend the rest of the day shopping: transfer to the airport for the flight home.
