The “Homeland of Champions Experience” is an immersive eight-day journey through Kenya’s iconic running landscapes, beginning in the scenic Ngong Hills and continues through historic sites and training grounds of legendary athletes. Participants engage in daily runs alongside elite runners amidst breathtaking scenery, from tea plantations to the famed Iten, known as the “Mecca of Running.” Cultural highlights include overnight stays at unique locations like Treetops Hotel and explorations of significant athletic landmarks, culminating in a wildlife safari in the Masai Mara, where guests experience the rich biodiversity of Kenya, including the opportunity to witness the Great Wildebeest
Migration. This program merges athletic training, cultural exploration, and wildlife adventure for an unforgettable Kenyan experience.

Day 1: Running with great runners on Ngong Hills made famous by the movie “Out of Africa” 5K – 10K run in this part elite runners have settled and train every day. Overnight Windsor Country and Gold Club.

Day 2: Run along the beautiful tea plantation in Limuru that has produced top athletes including multiple winner of Gold Coast marathon: the travel to Mt.Kenya area home to Cathrine Ndereva double Olympic Silver medalist and the first woman to win Boston marathon four times: besides New York: Chicago and Tokyo: overnight at Treetops Hotel a tree hotel where in 1952 the late Queen Elizabeth of England went up as princess one evening and came down a queen the following morning following the death of her father the King of England.

Day 3: Run with some local athletes before visiting the home of the late founder of the founder of the scout’s movement travel to Nyahururu home to the first and youngest Kenyan to win a marathon gold medal and also winner of Chicago, New York, London, Berlin and Tokyo marathons. This area also produced the first man to win World Cross Country 5 times in a row John Ngugi. Overnight at Thompson Fall Lodge next to Thompson Falls named after the first British explorer to see them: lunch at the hotel: dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Morning run 5K – 10K in the presence of accompanied by elite runners: travel to Lake Nakuru after breakfast for game viewing stopping at Menengai Crater for a short run and to view the crater: late afternoon game drive till dusk overnight at a lodge.

Day 5: Travel through Baringo and the breathtaking Kerio for an unforgettable experience in Iten “Home of Champions” commonly referred as the Mecca of Running. Check into a resort overlooking the fascinating gorge for overnight stay.

Day 6: Morning run (5K – 15K) along the track used by world class athletes who train here every day in their hundreds and one encounters them running in different directions: lunch at the lodge: visit the viewpoint for a drink and interaction with local majority of whom are runners: overnight at the resort.

Day 7: Depart for Kaptagat where the world marathon record holder the late Kiptun trained and lived: experience another run at yet one of the top high alttitude training area : picnic lunch before travelling to Eldoret Boma Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 8: A short morning run in yet another home of world beaters before breakfast before transferring to Eldoret for the flight to Nairobi.
Fly to Nairobi and connect for the flight to Masai Mara where wildlife roams freely across the vast plains for the ultimate safari experience: overnight at a tented camp.

Day 9: Full day game drive tracking different wildlife species including the Big 5: also witness the Great Wildebeest Migration (July –September) : overnight at the tented camp.

Day 9: Drive back to Nairobi through the Masai town of Narok: spend the rest of the afternoon shopping: transfer to the airport for the flight home.

  • This is a scheduled trip but for clients in need of a different safari experience a tailor-made package could be formulated.
